Refund & Cancellation Policy - Have a Chai Tea
Rules for one-time tips, monthly subscriptions, failed debits, and payment disputes.
1. One-Time Tip Payments
All one-time "Chai" tips sent to creators are voluntary, non-commercial contributions. UPI transactions are final by design. Once a payment is confirmed by the supporter's UPI app and acknowledged by Cashfree, it cannot be reversed through the Platform.
Supporters are shown a clear confirmation screen before payment is initiated and are informed that the transaction is non-refundable at that point.
If a supporter believes they made a payment in error, they may contact hello@chaitea.me with the transaction ID. We will review the case and, if a technical error on our part caused the issue, work with Cashfree to explore remediation options. We cannot guarantee refunds in any circumstance for one-time payments.
2. Monthly Subscription Payments
Cancellation: supporters may cancel their monthly UPI AutoPay mandate at any time either from within the Have a Chai Tea platform or directly from their UPI app under recurring payments or AutoPay settings.
Cancellation takes effect immediately. The supporter will not be charged in any following month.
Refunds on cancellation: no refund is issued for a subscription payment that has already been processed this month. Cancellation prevents future charges only.
Creator notification: the creator is notified immediately when a subscriber cancels. Their earnings dashboard and subscriber count are updated in real time.
3. Failed Subscription Debits
If a monthly subscription debit fails due to insufficient UPI balance, an expired mandate, or a UPI app issue, no charge is made to the supporter and no earnings are recorded for the creator for that cycle.
The Platform will notify both the creator and, optionally, the supporter of the failed debit.
4. Technical Failures
In the rare event of a technical failure where a supporter's UPI account is debited but the payment is not credited to the creator's earnings ledger, please contact hello@chaitea.me with the following:
- Your registered email address
- The UPI transaction reference ID (UTR number)
- The creator's chaitea.me/username you were trying to support
- The date and amount of the transaction
We will investigate with Cashfree and resolve the discrepancy within 7 business days.
5. Platform Fee Non-Refundability
Platform milestone fees of ₹ 50 per ₹ 1,000 milestone deducted from creator payouts are non-refundable once a payout has been processed.
